Today Malmsbury students between P-2 will begin work as historians, taking home some interview questions to find out about an older person they know. We would like to compare modern childhood and childhood in the past, so the older your interview subject is the better!
To practise, students have been answering life story interview questions themselves. Grade P-2 students have already thought of possible interviewees to talk to but might need to get on the phone or somehow ask these older people whether they are okay about telling their life stories.
Think about the ways you could record this interview. You could write down some answers, create a picture or photo story of the telling or record audio/video of the interview process. The most important element for an oral history interview is talking about that person’s experience and making it conversational.
Children will be asked to describe how their interviews went in the last week of term (starting 16 September).
